What is Piano Tuning?
Piano tuning is a refined skill that allows the piano tuner to adjust the tuning pins ( about 230 of them) by tightening and loosening to make the piano sound more pleasing and beautiful.
Why Should I Have My Piano Tuned?
The better the piano sounds the more often it will be played. If you want your children to practice the piano, keep the piano in good tune and free from sticking keys and unwanted noises, etc.
Another reason for having the piano tuned is it will help maintain a pitch standard ( A 440 cycles per second, 440 HZ) that will train young children’s ears to hear the proper pitches.
How Often Should I Tune My Piano?
Pianos will go out of tune with the passage of time. People often have their piano tuned when something in the piano quits working or pianos are often tuned before a recital or special occasion. Serious pianists/musicians will often maintain a tuning schedule of 4 times per year. As a general rule a piano should be tuned once or twice per year.
What Can I Do To Help Keep My Piano In Tune?
Buy a good quality piano!!. Also, maintain the room temperature and humidity to avoid large fluctuations. Keep the piano away from direct sunlight and dampness.
